About this course

There are no formal entry requirements for the Fares and Ticketing Level 1 course. However it is recommended that prospective candidates will already have basic skills in both numeracy and literacy prior to embarking on a course of study for this qualification.

Course programme

Course content:

Each level is worth 10 IATA points giving the 20 points to enhance your employment prospects. Both programmes are accredited by City & Guilds as part of their Tourism qualifications.

On completion of this module, students will be able to:

  • Define IATA geographical areas and Global Routing Indicators
  • Interpret various airline codings
  • Identify differing fare types and their characteristics
  • Select the lowest applicable fare for point to point itineraries with reference to fare rules
  • Calculate fares applying the fundamental principles of the mileage system
  • Construct fares using NUCs and the IATA Rates of Exchange for a range of currencies
  • Interpret all ticket types
  • Complete MPDs/MCOs for airport ticket issue
