This degree has been designed in close collaboration with the retail sector to ensure the delivery of a higher education qualification that will enable you to meet the demands of an ever-changing global retail design environment. Throughout the course, you will be involved in work-based/related learning, which will give you the opportunity to apply new skills and knowledge to a real working situation.
The course offers an introduction in Year 1 to a wide range of skills and knowledge in Visual Merchandising and Promotional Design, which includes the design process through project briefs, visual merchandising theory and practice, fashion promotion and styling, spatial awareness, 2D and 3D digital design, product presentation and historical contextual studies. In order to qualify for this course, you will need: Pre Degree Foundation Art and Design BTEC National / Extended Diploma in Art and Design / 3D Design / Graphic Design A-Levels including Art International Baccalaureate Applicants will be considered with relevant industry experience and portfolio evidence All applicants will undertake an interview to include: A portfolio presentation Transcript / certificate evidence of relevant qualifications Mature learners with extensive work experience (paid and/or unpaid) may also be considered. All applicants are invited to attend an interview with either the Course Leader or Course Tutor. You will be notified of your date for your interview by our Admissions Team who will also update UCAS Track with details of your application. All students who successfully complete this degree may have the opportunity to progress onto Level 6 (Year 3) of the BA (Hons) Visual Merchandising and Promotional Design (Top-up) course at Hugh Baird College.. Duration Two years, full time / three years, part time.. Cost You don’t need cash to enrol on a course. Tuition fee loans cover university or college tuition fees and are paid direct to the university or college, by Student Finance England. They are available to all eligible students regardless of household income. The amount you pay back is dependent on how much you earn and not how much you owe and you won’t need to start paying them back until you are earning more than £21,000 per year.
