Course Description
The Diploma is a new qualification that offers a unique mix of traditional and work-relevant learning. In collaboration with employers and higher education, the Diploma provides learners with essential skills and experience through applied learning.Your study on this course involves completing 6 units that combine various media skills and techniques inclusive in areas of research, design, pre/post production and evaluation. Two specialist routes can also be followed (traditional & interactive).
Entry Requirements
At least 5 GCSEs at Grade C, one of which must be English Language. Or Level 2 skills/craft qualification (eg NVQ 2 or relevant work experience).
Modules Studied:
- Unit 1 Capture: e.g. capturing resources and creating a multimedia/media product
- Unit 2 Show: e.g. planning for and managing an exhibition of your own work
- Unit 3 Interaction: e.g. interacting with an event or taking part in an event
- Unit 4 Commission: e.g. producing and interactive DVD for a company
- Unit 5 Investigation: e.g. undertake an individually negotiated research project based on a practitioner
- Unit 6 Evaluation: e.g. personal review and reflection of the investigation
- Work Placement: Liaising with employers, colleagues and tutors to produce and end media product

Attendance Modes: Day
Assessment: Assessment is via a process portfolio of ll prep work , production and observations. The first four units are internally assessed, units five and six are externally assessed.
Progression Routes: The Advanced Diploma is equivalent to 420 UCAS points (3.5 A Levels). Learners can progress on to university courses in most subject areas. Most do prefer to stay in the media industries.
