Masters in Financial Management

Kate

About the course: I chose to apply for the Women in Finance Scholarship as opposed to others offered at Vlerick, because it was specifically targeted for the Masters in Financial Management programme and also because I truly believe in promoting and supporting women in finance leadership roles, which are still greatly dominated by men. I believe we must focus on diversity and inclusion, bringing different opinions, experiences and backgrounds together in order to progress and further develop.

About the course: Vlerick Business School definitely changed my life. All the business insights that I gained became a toolbox that totally complemented my engineering studies. The "real business cases" approach in all the subjects were key to challenge me. Even more, Career Services prepared me to join the labour market in a dream company. This was a great year!

Masters in Financial Management

About the course: My application for Vlerick was driven by the desire to grow fast and boost my career. My dream has always been to become a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and to make an impact. Hence, Vlerick is a small step in the right direction. I would advise any female to take the leap and apply for this Masters since the acquired skills will be of tremendous importance to move up the ladder in an organization. Furthermore, next to being a step closer to your dream job, this scholarship can give you that extra boost you might need. As a woman in finance, you can help drive the transition towards more female leaders. Only through a larger influx of female high potentials, we can close the gap and take all the opportunities. Be the change you want to see.

Masters in International Management & Strategy

About the course: Most likely one of the best decisions I ever made. The manner in which the MIMS programme is structured is very challenging and that only allowed me to push harder. The topics studied are very diverse, but always focused on the practical side. The courses are complemented by an immersive trip to Asia which offers a unique opportunity to explore these cultures through different lens and understand how the business world functions there. The international in-company project at the end of the course is another huge added value. Mine took place in Ethiopia, working for an FMCG local company and was an absolute eye-opening experience. I would definitely recommend this programme!

About the course: There is a good mix of international students making it much more interesting, the teachers are focused, friendly, approachable and helpful.
What I would highlight: International trips are a key standout but it can burn your pocket if you don't plan your finances before as its added to the program fee. About the course: Great experience
What I would highlight: My overall experience was good whether the academic or the general life style. The Gent's nightlife is not so alive, we used to hang out at Peanuts and De Vagant, on the Overpoortstraat but for the work pressure the hung out classes eventually diminished some of my close friends and I goes to Geuz van Gent or the boat near Decascoop and Jazz pub.

What I would highlight: English in Gent is understandable and easy whereas understanding English in Belgium and Dutch is very difficult as an Indian but the classmates are very helpful and motivating. I appreciate the way Belgian switch over to English as soon as they see an international student.

Masters in Financial Management

Germain Bahri

What I would highlight: During my studies at Vlerick I had the chance to visit several prominent start-ups in London, and discover my passion for innovation. Currently, I'm working for Fidor Bank, a digital-only bank that offers innovative and easy-to-use banking solutions. What we must do now is to change the way financial services are designed and delivered in order to contribute to a better world of finance for everyone. So, I would like to advise MFM participants to study the financial industry deeply, find out what it’s all about − and the way it really drives them personally.
