Is it for me?
Yes if you are looking for a career working as a sports massage therapist in private practice, health and fitness centres and sports clubs.
What do I need?
It is essential to have a recognised level 3 certificate in Body Massage before commencing this course.
VTCT Health and Safety qualification is also a requirement of this course. If you have not achieved this qualification within the past 3 years, then you will be required to study this unit along side the Sports Massage course.
A uniform is also required. You will be given costs and order forms on commencement of the programme (grants and loans may be available to help with the cost of uniforms).
Acceptance onto some courses may be subject to a satisfactory police clearance. Further guidance will be given by the course team at interview or induction.
A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to studying on this course, a number of factors will be taken in to consideration.

Where will I study?
Baltic Campus
You'll be based at our fantastic £39million Baltic campus on the quayside. The campus has a prime location on Gateshead quayside, and state-of-the-art facilities including a Jacuzzi, gym and sauna, a 200 seat theatre, state-of-the-art classrooms, training kitchen and restaurant, refectory, bistro and vending areas.
How will I be assessed?
You will be continuously assessed in both practical and theory work throughout the course and will be required to build up a portfolio containing several case studies. Home study is required.
How will I be taught?
You will develop your skills within a realistic environment provided through our superbly equipped salons, and will be taught by a very experienced team of lecturers.
What qualification will I get?
VTCT level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage.
Can I go on to further study?
You could continue your studies to gain other related qualifications in subjects such as Aromatherapy, Indian Head Massage or Reflexology or you may progress to a degree course in Sports Science.
What are the career opportunities?
You may gain employment in a beauty salon, leisure complex, health spa, sports and fitness centre or set up your own business.
