Is it for me?
For those working in or wanting to embark on a career within the Beauty Industry as a Nail Technician.
What do I need?
You need to currently hold a level 2 manicure qualification.
VTCT Health and Safety qualification is a requirement of this course. If you have not achieved this qualification within the past 3 years, then you will be required to study this unit along side the Nail technology course.
A kit and uniform are required for this course. You will be given costs and order forms on commencement of the programme (grants and loans may be available to help with the cost of uniforms and kit).
What will I study?
Nail technology deals with the application, repair maintenance and removal of artificial nail structures. Using both Gel and Fibreglass systems.
A critical factor is to ensure the health and safety of the client and the operator. This is based on health and safety legislation and compliance with good hygiene.
Where will I study?
Baltic Campus
You'll be based at our fantastic £39million Baltic campus on the quayside. The campus has a prime location on Gateshead quayside, and state-of-the-art facilities including a Jacuzzi, gym and sauna, a 200 seat theatre, state-of-the-art classrooms, training kitchen and restaurant, refectory, bistro and vending areas.
How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessed in both practical and theory work, throughout your course. You will build a portfolio of work to support your learning.
How will I be taught?
You will develop your skills within a realistic environment provided through our superbly equipped salons, and will be taught by a very experienced team of lecturers.
What qualification will I get?
VTCT level 2 Certificate in Nail Technology.
Can I go onto further study?
Yes you can progress on to VTCT level 2 certificate in Nail Art, NVQ level 3 in Nail Services, or you could broaden your portfolio of qualifications and increase your employability by progressing on to other Beauty or Holistic courses we have on offer at the college.
What are the career opportunities?
On successful completion of the course you could seek employment within the beauty industry, within salons, health spas and cruise ships.
Financial information
