This course is aimed at those who recruit individuals into their organisation. The training offers you information, guidance and skills required to carry out a Warner Interview. These interviews were a recommendation of the Choosing with Care: Warner Report.

About this course

To give the attendees the information and skills needed to carry out a successful Warner interview, which could prevent an unsuitable individual from volunteering or working within their organisation, thus protecting the vulnerable people they work with.

Those members of staff who job it is to recruit, whether this is volunteers or paid members of staff.

You need to have some sort of basic safeguarding knowledge.

There is a certificate of attendance for this course. One agency we regularly work with has gained more funding due to its staff attending this course.

Angela has carried out several Warner style interviews on behalf of Cambridgeshire Police, The YMCA, Peterborough City Council and the Internet Watch Foundation. Angela is a qualified trainer to CTLLS (Certificate of Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector), and has acquired her ATLS (Associate Teacher Learning and Skills ), professional status.  She also has a Certificate in Personnel Practice from CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Directors), and was specifically trained in 2009 by NCSL to deliver the  Safer Recruitment workshops.  

Course programme

you will find out the background to Warner;

carry out example interiews to test your skills;

think about what your organisation currently has in place and what it can do to improve its recruitment procedures;

it will get you thiking about how things can be misunderstood;

you will look at body language and how this has a major impact in the recruitment process;

The day will be interactive.
