The course is to learn, step by step, the art of watercolour painting. The course is an introduction to the materials, equipment and techniques to begin learning the art of watercolours. As well as emphasising the particular nature of watercolour painting there will also be tuition on the basics of painting, colour mixing, picture making and getting the most enjoyment out of the activity.
By the end of the ten weeks each student will hopefully have tried the basic methods of wet-on-dry and wet-on-wet painting and also been instructed how to produce the various type of washes (flat, graded and variegated). Lessons will also be given on colour-mixing. Other more specific tips and techniques will be introduced when they are relevant to the various topics covered.
You will need to bring with you the following items:
? Watercolour paints (pans or tubes) Windsor & Newton of Daler Rowney student quality.
? Watercolour paper (A4 or A3 pad) 140lb 300gsm Bockingford.
? Brushes, sizes 4, 6 & 8 round
? Two jam jars
? A mixing palette.
