About this course
These workshops will help you to learn the basic skills of watercolour painting. Experiment and explore your creative abilities.
Acquire new skills to paint vibrant and individual watercolour painting.
You will be able to 'play' and experiment with colour and texture to achieve lively interesting and personal paintings.
Small friendly groups ensuring plenty of individual tuition.
Anyone who is interested in learning a new skill.
Complete beginners who have never tried painting before or those who want to 'refresh' their skills.
No lower or upper age range, all welcome, full disabled access and ample free car parking.
Suitable for absolute beginners or those with some basic experience wanting a 'refresher' course.

Martin Laurance is a professional artist and qualified art teacher (B.Ed.) who has been helping adults to paint and draw successfully for over thirty years. For many years he taught watercolour classes at Wensum Lodge, Norwich.
Course programme
Introduction:
Skills 1: The basics of watercolour painting, types of paint and brushes, papers and how they differ. Practising flat and graded washes.
Skills 2: Acquire new skills in creating landscape paintings with washes. Experiment with colour and brushwork. Guided exercises help you each step of the way.
Skills 3: Learn about aerial perspective and how to make distinctive textures to enhance your paintings in watercolour.
Skills 4: Practise new ways of painting the sea and shore in watercolour.
