This is an introductory class to explore the particular use of watercolour in relation to life painting. There will be an introduction to anatomy by working from the skeleton in conjunction with the life model. You will practice colour mixing, mark making and different watercolour techniques such as wet on wet, dry brush etc to vary your approach to paint handling.

Course programme
We will cover primary, secondary and tertiary colour mixing and expand upon the watercolour techniques particular to painting portraits and the human form. We will also cover proportional measurement to improve accuracy when observing the figure.
You will be taught by demonstration, individual and group tuition and discussion. There are watercolour paints available for the first session, but students are encouraged to bring their own paints and a large watercolour brush as the course develops. Advice on all materials will be given at the first session. There is a charge for the watercolour paper we use at cost price.
