2. Course description This course will focus on developing a bold painting through direct observation using expressive techniques with mixed media including soft pastels, charcoal, ink and watercolour.You will learn to distinguish the use of tone, colour, composition through practice, discussion and demonstration. Learners will gain experience using watercolour and mixed materials and review their work through group discussion and one to one support. The overall aim is to develop confidence in using the techniques and methods of working with this fascinating subject

Entry requirements For a range of experience from those with little or none to those who have been working for a while, who need a refresher and want to develop furtherWe welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. Please let staff know if you require any extra support when you enrol and they will arrange for a member of the Supported Learning Team to contact you to discuss your support needs. Equipment required Bring whatever watercolour, pastel, inks you may already have purchased or a pad of A3 cartridge paper, soft grade of pencils (4B or 6B), soft rubber and a graphite stick for the first session.
