Course programme



The Welding and Fabrication Practice Level 2 is an intensive part-time course designed to produce craft persons capable of employment in industry.

Welders cut, shape and join sections of metal plate and pipes in a wide range of industries. These include construction and engineering, transport, aerospace, and offshore oil and gas. They also carry out repairs on manufacturing equipment and machinery. In the industry you will need to understand technical plans and have good maths skills for working out measurements.


This modular scheme develops practical skills and theoretical knowledge to a level that suits the individuals needs. The mandatory units are Metal-Arc Gas Shielded, Tungsten-Arc Gas Shielded, Manual Metal-Arc, Engineering Drawing, Fabrication, Materials and Related Studies.


Class-led activities include theory, practical tasks and demonstrations.
