Course programme



The Welding and Fabrication Practice Certificate Level 2 programme is designed to provide the relevant training and education required to develop the skills necessary for employment in the fabrication and welding industries. The programme will provide all the underpinning knowledge required to complement the practical skills required for this level.


You will either study the Award or Certificate depending on your grades on entry. This programme has been specifically designed to provide an introduction to a broad base of welding skills and knowledge to allow you to progress to higher level study at Level 3. You will experience a range of different welding principles and will learn from ex-industry experts through lectures, practical activities, group and personal tutorials. You will also engage in GEM and GAP activities to develop your English, maths and employability skills.


Learning takes place in our modern fabrication and welding workshops, where you acquire the knowledge and skills appropriate to a level 2 qualification.


Delivery is through a combination of classroom lectures and tutorials, workshop practice and demonstrations.

Welding and Fabrication Level 2

Subjects may include welding, science and calculations, material technology, fabrication processes and technology, and health and workshop safety.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs (grades A*-E), including English and maths, or satisfactory results in a relevant Level 1 qualification, and an interview.
