This course will introduce you to the techniques and skills required to take stunning images of red and fallow deer. On location in Bushy Park (near Hampton Court) an expert wildlife photographer will teach you how to predict their behaviour at various times of year, what to wear and what safety procedures and behaviours you need to adopt around wildlife to get impactful shots and build a story with your images. You will experiment with essential techniques including framing, panning, positioning, blur, focusing, metering and camera settings.Other species will also be available to photograph in the park including rabbits, parakeets, hooded crows, cormorants and plentiful autumn flora.Red deer are indigenous to the UK and are known for their spectacular behaviour during the autumn rutting season; they are most often found in open settings in the north of England and Scotland. Fallow deer were introduced by the Normans but have become widely accepted as being part of our natural heritage, and can both be found in managed parkland up and down the country. This course is conducted at Bushy Park (nearest station Hampton Court). You will need to be able to walk approximately 1 mile/1.5km to venue start and 4 miles/ 6km throughout the whole day. Due to the rough terrain in the park where the deer reside the location is not wheelchair accessible. What previous students liked most about their course:“Really enjoyable course.
