Who is this course for?

The course is for anyone who works in a confined space setting – meaning any place, including any chamber, tank, vat, silo, pit, trench, pipe, sewer, flue, well or other similar space in which, by virtue of its enclosed nature, there arises a reasonably foreseeable specified risk.

By the end of this course you will be able to describe the following:

•Risks associated with confined spaces

•Roles of the team

•Safe systems of work methods

•Pre-entry checks of confined spaces


By the end of this course you will be able to demonstrate the following:


•Preparing to work safely in a medium risk confined space

•Entering and exiting a confined space safely

•Prepare and use respiratory protective equipment (RPE) for escape purposes and in accordance with the manufacturers specification

•Use equipment and tools safely following manufacturers instructions

•Following procedures and working safely

•Dealing with emergencies

•Using appropriate behaviour

•Application of relevant knowledge & industry standards

Successful candidates can move onto further training in High Risk and Rescue programmes
