Working with Chinese-beginners
Your Course
This course introduces students to the Chinese language, concentrating on the language you would need when travelling to China on business. The course aims to develop the skills of listening and speaking, together with limited character recognition. The emphasis will be on real-life dialogues, designed to enable the students to give formal greetings and introductions, make appointments and deal with monetary matters. It is essentially a beginners course with a business slant.
The course book will be "Chines in Steps Vol 1" by George X Ahang, Linda M Li and Li K Suen
Learning Outcomes
By the end on the course you will have been given the opportunity to:
· learn Chinese pronunciation and its representation in terms of the phonetic alphabet.
· Greet people and introduce yourself and a third party.
· Meet people and ask questions with regard to their nationality and native language.
· Tell the time, obtain information related to time and make appointments.
· Say the days of the week, dates and the months of the year.
· Learn numbers.
· Learn Chinese strokes, scripts and simple chinese calligraphy.
· Learn about Chinese sentence structure.
Your Tutor
Qiao Quiao Wang, is a native Madarin speaker form China. She has been teaching Chinese ever since she graduated from University. She has always had a passion for laguages.She believes that laguage learning should be fun, challenging, diverse and informative and looks forward to welcoming you to her class.

Tuition fees: £99
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
