Students are required to bring a ring binder, to keep the handouts in good order, and a notebook. No course book will be needed. Your Course
This course will be taught at absolute beginners' level. No previous knowledge of Japanese is required. Handouts will be provided. Students are required to bring a ring binder, to keep the handouts in good order, and a notebook. No course book will be needed.
The course will focus on speaking and listening, but a few written elements will also be introduced. By the end of the course students will be able to use basic Japanese in business situations; for introductions and greetings, exchanging business cards, arranging meetings, passing on contact details and useful small talk.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have had an opportunity to focus on the following main topic and grammar areas:
· Greetings and introductions: sentences with desu and dewa arimasen
· Numbers: stating the price and asking for the price of things (forming questions using Ka and the question word Ikura)
· Stating the time and asking for the time (including the question word nan-ji)
· Talking about dates
· Talking about quantity
· Expressing likes and dislikes (-ga suki desu)
· Generic phrases in conversations (a sou desu ka, sou desu ne, o-matase, shimashita)
Your Tutor
Rosa Wunner has been learning Japanese for more than ten years. She studied Japanese language and literature in Berlin, Tokyo, Kyoto and Cambridge, graduating with a MA degree. Ms Wunner has also worked in Japan for an international corporation. She has been teaching Japanese for over six years to students of all levels and backgrounds.

Tuition fees: £99
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.
