Part TimeThis FREE course is for 16 – 18 year olds, there are no specific entry requirements for this course. However, you must not be on a study programme with any other p­rovider.This course gives those learners aged 16 to 18, including those who are home educated, the opportunity to experience life at The Isle of Wight College and explore all the options available for future career progression including Traineeships, Apprenticeships and full-time career courses.

Course programme

Once you have put your name down for the course you are requested to report to the college reception at 09.00 on Monday 11 April. You do not need to attend a pre-entry interview.


This course will build your self-confidence and allow you to set your own personal targets.  Over the nine days you will enjoy team building, practical activities, employer visits, experience of work, field trips and fun activities.

This course will give you the opportunity to explore the variety of options available to continue your career. Whether you are looking to take up a traineeship, a full apprenticeship or study full-time you will get the support you need to make the right choices for you.


You will learn in a friendly and supportive environment to develop your confidence, to become more independent and to improve your practical skills and team work.

This course will help you to decide your next step. You may be able to start a Traineeship, Apprenticeship or career course straight away or prepare a plan to progress your career.
