About this course
Successful applicants will need to have achieved a level 2 Engineering VRQ or a comparable level qualification in a similar subject area. Key Skills Literacy & Numeracy at Level 2 or equivalent.

You will study 2 mandatory units:
- Engineering & environmental health & safety
- Organisational efficiency & improvement
- CAD
- Pneumatics
- Design
- Advanced milling
- Advanced turning
- Cam
- Give the candidate a full understanding of the skills and competencies required by someone working in the engineering industry
- Provide an important progression route into employment
- Provide the engineering industry with a pool of staff with a nationally recognised qualification
- Provide a popular qualification for candidates as they get to understand the full requirements of the job
Successful Candidates will achieve the Level 3 VRQ Diploma in Engineering and Technology (Mechanical Engineering Route).
This diploma has gained accreditation as a Technical Certificate, used in the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship framework. The diploma can also form the basis for a university application.
Assessments/Examinations
Each candidate will take an externally marked examination based on the two mandatory units and will be tested also on practical and knowledge levels gained in the six specialised subjects by internally marked assignments.

Tuition/registration is FREE for those aged 16-18yrs
Free tuition is available to those over 19 in receipt of means tested benefits or to their unwaged dependants (registration fees still apply)
