You will study: Academic subjects: Applied Heat. Applied Mechanics. Mathematics. Engineering Drawing. Naval Architecture. Electrotechnology. Professional subjects: Engineering Knowledge - General. Engineering Knowledge - Motor. Engineering Knowledge - Steam. Subject combinations from the course content are possible during a term of 11 weeks duration. Combinations will depend upon timetabling.
Requirements: A minimum of EOOW Certificate of Competency or the necessary MCA recognised initial training and the necessary sea service to apply for a Notice of Eligibility.

You must pass all elements of the Engineering Knowledge examinations, and within three years also pass your MCA Oral Examination* to be awarded the Certificate of Competency.
Written examination papers are of three hours duration.
*Please note: you must process a MCA Notice of Eligibility to apply for either the oral examination or the SQA examination.
