Communications for Managing People Course
There are many ways of giving orders. One extreme is the 'dictator' type of manager who is dominating, makes quick decisions, overrules anyone who dissents and, as a consequence, ends up with poor decisions. At the other extreme you might find the 'country club' type of manager who ensures that everyone feels good, but little action is taken or progress made.
Most people, at some time in their life, are asked to pass on skills, information or ideas, to someone who may be new to the job. You may be asked to do this formally, at a certain time of the day, against a written schedule, or informally, when it suits both you and the trainee best. In either case, there are some important issues to consider.
After participating in this course, you should be able to:
recognise the factors which influence the style of giving orders
explain the stages and styles of instruction
recognise the principles and main ingredients of team briefing
describe the purpose and structure of effective reports
describe the purposes and key stages of presentations.
In working through this session, you will practise the following BTEC common skills:
Managing and developing self
Working with and relating to others
Communicating
Managing tasks and solving problems
Applying numeracy
Applying technology
Applying design and creativity
