What do I need to get on the course? Your level of English will be assessed.
What will I study? The context for this course is UK citizenship. Learners will develop their English language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) and at the same time learn about being a citizen in the UK (e.g. rights and responsibilities, UK government, services etc). Learners will work towards Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life exams.
How do I get on the course? Come in to the Centre where you want to study to make an appointment to have your level of English assessed: Centre for Lifelong Learning - Monday to Thursday 10am-7pm, Friday 10am-1pm. Sixth Form College ¿ Mondays to Thursday 5pm.,
How much does the course cost? ESOL courses are free if you are on income-based benefits, eg income support or housing benefit. If you are not on benefit but are on a low income, you may also get help with fees. , Information about the cost of ESOL courses is available in the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, Greek, Gujurati, Hindi, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, Tamil, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

Evidence of your status in the UK - eg your passport or Home Office letter
Evidence of your income if you are claiming concessions - your wage slips, benefit letter or National Asylum Support Service (NASS) letter.
