About this course

No formal qualifications are required but individuals should have knowledge of computers and be able to create and save a simple document. Some knowledge of the terms used within computing would be beneficial, although not essential. Individuals who have successfully completed the e-Citizen qualification can also progress onto this course.

Who is the course for?
The course is designed specifically for individuals who wish to gain a benchmark qualification in computing which will enable them to develop their IT skills and enhance their career prospects. ECDL is the internationally recognised qualification and the fastest growing IT user qualification in over 135 countries.

What is the course about?
The ECDL syllabus is designed to cover the key concepts of computing, its practical applications and their use in the workplace and society. In part 1 of the course individuals study three modules:
Basic Concepts of IT
Using the Computer and Managing Files
Information and Communication

Will I need anything else?
Headphones and access to a computer.

How long & often do I attend?
3 hours per week for 13 weeks.

How will I be assessed?
Each module is assessed by a 45 minute on-line multiple choice or on-line simulation.

What opportunities will this lead to?
On completion of the first three modules of the ECDL programme, individuals should then progress onto part 2 of ECDL, in order to gain the full ECDL qualification, together with a BCS Using IT Level 2 qualification.
