Hospitality - Foundation Diploma
What will I study?
The Foundation Diploma in Hospitality has been developed specifically for the Hospitality/ Leisure and Tourism trade. It is a fantastic opportunity for young people to become part of a world class industry and to acquire valuable skills that can be used in many areas of work and most of all make a difference in the workplace

How can I progress?
Students can progress to Higher or Advanced Diploma (depending on your Diploma gradeand GCSE result). Apply for an apprenticeship or look for relevant employment opportunities.

Course Structure
Whilst studying towards this qualification the following areas of study will be covered; Principal Learning: You will study six units which provide an overarching understandingof the Hospitality industry. These are, Introducing Hospitality Services, Customer Service in the Hospitality Industry, Developing ideas for menus and food, Beverages preparation and service and finally Importance of the Hospitality Industry in the UK. Generic Learning: This element of the diploma includes, 20 days work related learning, Personal Learning and thinking skills - students are expected to develop these skills throughout their programme of study, An extended project must be completed which must be linked to the Principal Learning, and finally, Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT at level 1. Additional/ Specialist Learning: This element of the Diploma allows for the study of an additional course that complements the subjects being studes in the Principal Learning.
