Course Description: The aim of this course is to allow candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression within the Automotive Sector. The course contents cover the foundation skills necessary for progression into Light and/or Heavy Vehicle (Truck and Bus) Maintenance and Repair.

Modules :

• Working Safely and Effectively during Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Foundation Skills for Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Vehicle Construction and Routine Maintenance.
• Operating Principles of Vehicle Tyres, Brakes, Steering and Suspension Systems.
• Operating Principles of Vehicle Engines.
• Operating and Maintenance of Vehicle Transmissions.
• Operating Principles and Maintenance of Vehicle Electrical and Electronic Systems.

Full-time candidates will also study essential Key Skills as required by the industry.

Entry Requirements:

• A good general education standard is required preferably with attainment of 3 GCSE's grade E to C.
• All applicants will undertake an interview and aptitude test to determine their suitability to this course.
• Applicants must possess enthusiasm and commitment to obtain a career in motor vehicle industry.
• The ability to read and interpret written tasks and to write answers in a legible and understandable form will be necessary.

Progression/Career Opportunities: Secure full-time employment and/or a Modern Apprenticeship or progression to Level 2.
