About this course

Preferably you should have at least GCSE grade E in both Maths and English. Work experience placement or part time employment in a hairdressing salon would be an advantage. In addition, we will assess your aptitude for the course using a brief practical skill test and pre course interview.

About the Course
Unit G20 enables you to understand the part you will play in salon health and safety.
Unit G3 gives you an understanding of how important you are in the effectiveness of the team.
Unit GH1 teaches you the skill of shampooing, which includes a massage followed by a conditioning treatment. You will complete the treatment by either working with a level 2 student or drying the hair into a chosen style.
Unit GH3 Teaches you how to prepare for hairdressing services and maintain work areas for all treatments.
While on this course you will have the opportunity to participate in the College†s Festival of Colour competition.
Unit G12 Teaches you how to blow dry hair into style
Unit GH4 enables you to assist a stylist during hair colouring, including removal of the colour after processing and condition.
You will need to purchase a uniform for approx £58 this should be worn with black, flat fully enclosed shoes. A kit for £228 (Order forms available from the college) will also be required. (Order forms are available from College.) The Student Support Fund may be able to help you with payments towards these costs.

Practical â€" you will be observed while performing the skills you have learned. Written â€" by set assignment, tasks and client studies, plus an on line examination for each unit.
Oral â€" you will be questioned verbally.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What next?
You can progress to NVQ level 2 Hairdressing, as well as seeking part time employment in a hairdressing salon.
