Content:
To achieve your Level 2 Hairdressing Certificate you will need to pass a total of nine units. You will have to pass the seven mandatory units in Group A, plus a minimum of one unit from Group B and one of the Optional Units. The choice in Group B allows for perming in salons with different client groups. The choice of Optional Units allows you to follow your interests and the needs of the salon where you are training.
Mandatory units Group A

G1 Ensure your own actions reduce the risk to health & safety
G5 Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
G7 Advise and Consult with clients
H9 Shampoo and Condition hair and scalp
H6 Cut hair using basic techniques
H10 Style, dress and finish hair using basic techniques
H13 Change hair colour using basic techniques
Mandatory units Group B (one out of three must be completed)
H12 Perm and Neutralise hair using basic techniques or
H15 Perm, relax and neutralise hair or
H16 Perm, relax and neutralise African Caribbean hair
Optional Units (minimum of 1 must be completed)
H11 Style hair using basic plaiting techniques and added hair
G4 Fulfil salon reception duties
G6 Promote additional products or services to clients
G8 Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
H18 Provide scalp massage services
