Legionella Control & Water Safety Management Training Course #
Course Prerequisites
No previous knowledge is required. However, delegates should have a
general understanding of health and safety legislation and
good practice. A basic understanding of chemistry and biology would be
an advantage although the course is designed to provide this
background knowledge.
COURSE CONTENTS - 1 DAY
History of Legionellosis.
· Statutory and advisory regulations
(based around current UK legislation).
· Appraisal of the Health & Safety
Executive 'L8' document.
· Hot and Cold water systems.
· Cooling Towers.
· System risk assessment
· Appropriate Legionella control measures and appropriate precautionary
measures, temperature control, water dosing,
ionisation and others including ultraviolet radiation.
· A structured management system described
Expected outcomes:
Delegates will understand:
· The need to identify and asses
sources of risk.
· The requirement of water safety
records and the logbook.
· Legionella control methods
· The need to assign a responsible
and competent person to manage
water safety
· The requirements of a suitable
water safety management system.
Delegates will receive a
comprehensive training pack and
attendance certificate.
