The government are due to release details of the proposed Feed In Tariffs in 2010 and this is expected to create an increase in demand for domestic PV systems.

Course overview

This course is aimed at electricians who are involved, or may wish to be involved, in installing PV systems into domestic installations. The course will provide all the information needed to plan a domestic PV system, select the correct equipment, and install it to gain the optimum power from the sunlight available.

The Logic course is approved by many MCS schemes, enabling you to become an accredited installer.

Course content

· Types of PV Modules

Construction, performance characteristics, standard test conditions and handling

· PV Systems - modules, strings and arrays

Requirements for d.c. wiring, d.c. and a.c. isolation, grid tie inverters, monitoring and metering, connection to the public supply network

· Design Considerations

o Mounting of the system

o Earthing and lightning protection

· Requirements of BS 7671:2008 and Engineering Recommendation G83/1

· Practical elements to cover testing and commissioning
