The SIA has invited the BIIAB, City and Guilds and NCFE to work together in the interest of the industry as a whole and in support of its new licence to practise; they are collectively know as the Consortium. The Consortium has developed the new level 2 National Certificate for Door Supervisors.
*The qualification itself does not guarantee this Registration.
Course content:
The course consists of two units:-
Unit 1 â€" Roles and Responsibilities
This includes how to comply with the law, admission policies and procedures, refusing entry, searching, seizing articles, eviction, use of force and offensive weapons, how to deal with emergencies, drugs, arrest, scene preservation and report writing.

Unit 2 â€" Conflict Management
This includes managing conflict by applying dynamic risk approaches, understanding the importance of self-awareness and acting proactively; how to resolve conflict and how to learn from conflict.
A handbook is available which outlines the content of the course. This handbook contains all the knowledge required to pass the exam.

Assessment procedure:
There are 2 examinations, 1 for each unit. Each examination will have 40 multiple-choice questions and will take 1 hour. While Unit 1 is a conventional multiple-choice paper, Unit 2 requires you to watch video clips before answering the questions.
Examination papers are processed by BIIAB. BIIAB marks them and delivers the results to the training centre within one working day of receipt. Certificates are sent out to centres within 10 working days from the issue of results.

Progression opportunities:
A nationally recognised certificate for each unit will be awarded by the BIIAB stating the candidate has successfully achieved the Level 2 National Certificate for Door Supervisors and an overarching certificate when both units have been successfully completed.
This nationally recognised qualification will be the industry standard and will enable a Door Supervisor to apply for registration. To get an SIA licence you will need to satisfy three requirements:
* Pass an identity check
* Pass a criminal records check
* Possess a recognised door supervisors qualification
