Course Overview:
The course will you an introduction to nature illustration, developing important naturalist skills such as observation and documentation.
Learn how to observe, draw and paint the beauty of the natural world around us, from ancient fossils to birds in flight. Through a series of enjoyable exercises and demonstrations, this course guides you through the basic techniques of drawing, pen and watercolour. You will learn methods of describing nature both in the field, and as still life subjects that can be observed at home or in the studio.

Course programme
Explore basic illustration techniques using graphite, pen and watercolour.
• Render details and textures, patterns of skin, fur, claws, feathers and scales.
• Use nature journals and sketchbooks to capture fast accurate sketches.
• Use observational drawing to take a closer look at the structure of mammals and birds, gaining a better understanding of basic animal anatomy.
By the end of the course, you will have gained skills and confidence when drawing wildlife and hopefully have been inspired to continue illustrating nature, be it in the wilderness, your local park or the comfort of your own home.
