Course content:
The bricklaying apprenticeship programme is a work based learning programme aimed at people from the age of 16. As an apprentice you can earn while you learn bricklaying.
Apprentices are employed as bricklayers and will receive training in all aspects of the trade as outlined in the framework listed. At the end of the apprenticeship you will gain a Bricklaying NVQ level 2 qualification. The training for a bricklaying and key skills qualification takes place continuously in college as well with the employer. You will attend college one day week over a 2 year period.
Course Structure:
Bricklaying apprenticeship framework requirements? Candidates are required to take six mandatory units to achieve the full award. The units are: - VR01 Conform to General Workplace Safety - VR02 Conform to Efficient Work Practices - VR03 Move and Handle Resources - VR40 Erect Masonry Structures - VR41 Set Out Masonry Structures Plus one unit from the following - VR42 Erect Masonry Cladding - VR43 Lay Domestic Drainage - VR44 Erect Thin Joint Masonry Structures - VR45 Place and Finish Non-specialist Concrete - VR46 Plaster and Render Surfaces - VR47 Maintain Slate and Tile Roofing - VR50 Repair and Maintain Masonry Structures Plus the following Key skills at level 1 in Maths and English Technical certificate Employers Rights and Responsibility Certificate Abrasive Wheel Certificate Health and Safety Test
