Course content:
The painting and decorating apprenticeship programme is a work based learning programme aimed at people from the age of 16. As an apprentice you can earn while you learn painting and decorating.
Apprentices are employed as painting and decorating and will receive training in all aspects of the trade as outlined in the framework listed. At the end of the apprenticeship you will gain a Painting and Decorating NVQ level 2 qualification. The training for a painting and decorating and key skills qualification takes place in college as well with the employer. You will attend college one day week over a 2 year period.

Course Structure:
Painting and Decorating apprenticeship framework requirements? Candidates are required to take six mandatory units to achieve the full award. The units are: - VR01 Conform to General Workplace Safety - VR02 Conform to Efficient Work Practices - VR03 Move and Handle Resources - VR250 Erect and Dismantle Access/Working Platforms - VR332 Prepare Surfaces for Painting/Decorating - VR333 Apply Paint Systems by Brush and Roller Further optional units could include: - VR336 Hang Wall coverings (Standard Papers) - VR337 Hang Wide-width Vinyl's - VR338 Install Coving, Centre-pieces and Texture Products - VR339 Apply Coatings by the Airless Spray using Water-borne and/or Solvent-borne - VR340 Apply Coatings by the Air Spray Method Water-borne and/or Solvent-borne - VR341 Produce Broken Colour Work and Basic Stencilling - VR342 Produce and Apply Complex Stencil Designs Plus the following Key skills at level 1 in Maths and English Technical certificate Employers Rights and Responsibility Certificate Health and Safety Test

All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

Assessment:
Ongoing throughout the programme in the workplace and at college.
