Who is the course for?
This course is for people who wish to pursue a career in areas such as the police, the fire services, the armed forces and security

What is the course about?
The course is both practical and classroom based. Visits and outings are also an important part of the course.

During the course you will study a range of units including:

The Public Services
Public Services Skills
Public Service Fitness
Citizenship
Sport and Recreation
Land Navigation with Map and Compass.

You will also study a range of Basic Skills as part of the course. Basic Skills enables you to demonstrate employability in the workplace and they are a compulsory part of the course.

Will I need anything else?
You will be required to buy a Public Services kit. You will also need walking boots and waterproof clothing.

How long & often do I attend?
The course is offered as a 1 year programme and requires attendance at several sessions per week.

How will I be assessed?
Successful completion of the course is achieved through a variety of assessment methods including essays and projects. Some units are externally assessed.

What opportunities will this lead to?
On completion of the course you can seek employment within the uniformed services such as the armed forces, fire services or the police.
