This week is aimed at those leaving home or cooking on their own for the first time and wishing to equip themselves with basic skills and recipes to allow them to cook nutritionally balanced food on a budget.
We will also look at presentation and how to make very simple dishes look impressive, and students will learn how humble ingredients can make delicious meals. The days will be all practical sessions.

This is not restricted to career cooks – many enthusiastic amateurs attend the varied programme of courses and diverse range of special events, from food and wine matching evenings to chocolate workshops and carving demonstrations.
Course provider history
Leiths' reputation as a first-class training school for chefs attracts students of all ages from all over the world, with its dedicated teaching and friendly atmosphere. Established in 1975 by Prue Leith and Caroline Waldegrave, it is now owned jointly by Caroline Waldegrave and Christopher Bland. The Managing Director is Camilla Schneideman, the Principal is Claire Macdonald. The school is based at 16-20 Wendell Road, London W12 9RT, having moved from St Albans Grove in January 2008. The new premises has a purpose-built demonstration theatre, seating 40, and 4 fully-equipped teaching kitchens each accommodating 16 students there is also a restaurant kitchen to create a realistic work environment.

We have a number of courses to suit those looking for a career in the food industry. They are the Leiths Diploma in Food and Wine, the Basic Certificate and the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Certificates. Our short courses cater for the enthusiastic home cook and those keen to learn how to cooking. They specialize in skills, techniques and cuisines at times to suit you. Classes include the Short Courses, Day and Half Day Classes, Saturday Classes, Specialist Classes, Evening Classes, and Wine, Champagne, Whisky and Beer Evening Classes.
