Course review:
The aim of the course is to enable delegates to have a clearer understanding of:
- the distinction between controlled work and licensed work
- which cases risk rates or non standard rates of controlled work
- applicability of new costs regime from October 2011
- scope for increasing uplift on controlled work
- common costs compliance issues
- the scope of funding certificates and requirements for extensions and pitfalls
- costs consequences of Bahta
- maximising costs on inter partes basis
- common costs issues on assessment
- wasted costs regime
Although primarily designed for solicitors, various aspects will be applicable to barristers, particularly as to maximising costs either on controlled work or under funding certificates.
