Course programme

Course review:

The aim of the course is to enable delegates to have a clearer understanding of:

  • the distinction between controlled work and licensed work
  • which cases risk rates or non standard rates of controlled work
  • applicability of new costs regime from October 2011
  • scope for increasing uplift on controlled work
  • common costs compliance issues
  • the scope of funding certificates and requirements for extensions and pitfalls
  • costs consequences of Bahta
  • maximising costs on inter partes basis
  • common costs issues on assessment
  • wasted costs regime

Although primarily designed for solicitors, various aspects will be applicable to barristers, particularly as to maximising costs either on controlled work or under funding certificates.
