Participants will be able to: Summarise the key issues relating to eating disorders and young people. Consider the signs, signals, causes and triggers of eating disorders. Understand the importance of body image, self esteem, emotions and coping mechanisms. Develop practical strategies for helping those with or affected by eating disorders. Identify ways of responding to important ethical dilemmas in this work. Feel more confident when dealing with people affected by eating disorders. Suitable for anyone interested in young people and eating disorders.

Course programme
Whatever our culture, food has an important role to play in our lives. Of all the problems young people face Eating Disorders can be one of the most challenging. It is hard to estimate the extent of the incidence of eating disorders in young people but research indicates that it is increasing for both young women and young men. Eating disorders is a communication of feelings and presents professionals with complex and frustrating issues.
This course aims to increase the understanding of the key issues around eating disorders and young people.
Cost
The fees include all costs including travel and standard materials (each course has a full pack of handouts). They do not cover trainers' overnight accommodation (if required) or the cost of training packs that Young People in Focus sells commercially such as ESCAPE, Wavelength, or Working with Young People.
Expenses: All trainers' expenses such as travel and subsistence costs (but not accommodation when required) are covered in Young People in Focus' fee.
Cancellation Charges: If you have to cancel a course, charges apply.
