12 Hour- First Aid for Child Carers

Course aim: This course focuses on the practical use of recognised techniques and could mean the difference between life and death. This 12 hour course is designed for people who have responsibility for children, whether at work or within a domestic environment.

• Safety awareness/Electrocution
• Summoning Help
• Protection against Blood Born viruses
• Accident Book / Looking at policies
• Examination of patient Conscious / Unconscious
• Airway protection / Recovery position
• Resuscitation Adult/Child/Baby
• Treatment of Choking Adult/Child/Baby
• Treatment of Burns & Scalds
• Treatment of minor and major bleeding
• Treatment and recognition of fractures. Sports injuries.
• Treatment of medical conditions. Heart attack. Stroke. Asthma. Diabetic. Epilepsy. Allergic reaction
• Anaphylactic shock
• Recognition of Childhood Diseases and Parasites

Delivery:

This is an interactive course designed to blend practical activities with background knowledge, ensuring that individuals are adequately trained in an informative yet enjoyable environment. Students are independently examined on the final afternoon of the course. Upon successful completion certification is valid for three years.

Location: This training is available at a variety of locations throughout Gloucestershire, including at our fully equipped training room in Quedgeley. Training may also be delivered within your workplace if the numbers and location are appropriate.

This course is run for 12 hours and can be arranged to run on consecutive or non-consecutive days. Courses are run throught the year.
