The objectives of this course is to provide you with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career within the music industry.

This course is designed for people interested and eager to learn about music technology through the creation of relevant, practical and usable musical projects.

Interview and audition AND 5 GCSEs at A*-C (or new grade 9-4) including English or Maths, plus a grade 3 in English or Maths if not included in the 5 GCSEs OR L2 Diploma or equivalent at Merit Grade, plus GCSE English or Maths at Grade 4, plus a L1 or L2 English or Maths

You will learn by getting hands on experience of music technology software and hardware. You will also learn through a completion of practical projects and workshop based sessions.

What you will study

The main focus of this course is to build relevant skills associated with the diverse aspects of the music industry as well as gain in-depth knowledge of music software/hardware and how to utilise it effectively in the creation and presentation of music.

During the 1st year you will learn:
• How to operate studio equipment, record and mix a recording
• How to sequence and produce your own music
• How to compose in different musical styles
• The fundamentals of engineering for live events using an analogue mixing desk
• How to create your own podcast
• How the music industry operates
• How to produce music reviews and articles

During the 2nd year you will learn:
• Advanced approaches to using studio equipment
• The operation of advanced live sound equipment using a digital mixing desk
• How to successfully advertise and promote music
• How to compose music for Film/TV/Computer games
• How to create and design sound effects
• How to plan out a career path in the music industry
