AAT NVQ Level 2
Association of Accounting Technicians
Who is it for?
The AAT courses are for students who have an interest in accountancy and wish to gain a professionally recognised qualification. It is a well recognised qualification in the accountancy profession and many employers seek AAT
trained applicants.
What will I do?
The AAT is a professional, recognised qualification, which contains 4 accountancy and 3 business administration units. The units will cover some of the following topics:
Accounting
  • Recording Income and Receipts
  • Making and Recording Payments
  • Preparing Ledger Balances and an Initial Trial Balance
  • Supplying Information for Management Control Administration
  • Working with Computers
  • Achieving Personal Effectiveness
  • Contribute to the Maintenance of a Healthy Safe and Productive Working Environment
Assessment
Students can be assessed at work, or complete devolved assessments during the course.
These assessments may involve the following:
  • Case studies
  • Role play
  • Objective tests and short answer questions
  • In-tray exercises
  • Reports
  • Simulations
  • Oral questioning
There will also be a central external examination in June (resits December), based on one of the accountancy units.
Throughout the course, tutors will be assessing and monitoring your progress. During the course students will collect evidence and complete a portfolio of evidence. Some of this evidence can be collected from the workplace. Devolved assessments take place in the daytime.
Progression
Students will have the opportunity to progress to the AAT Intermediate and Technicians levels (NVQ 3 and 4).

One year (six hours per week)
6.30-9.30pm Mondays and Thursdays
