Accents for actors: beginners

The breakdown of the sounds of individual accents using texts and tutor resources. Knowledge of phonetics is useful but not essential.

Theory and practice, including detailed breakdown and analysis of each accent, including phonetics. (Some prior knowledge of phonetics is useful but not essential.) Exercises to explore physicalisation, and to compare your own and other accents. Each accent will be applied to relevant text. There will be no homework set for formal submission but you are expected to devote some time each week to practising at home with the provided recordings to reinforce the new accents you have learnt. HEALTH CHECK You may or may not be asked to participate in rigorous activity from time to time. Please consider whether you could do this, if you are in any doubt consult a medical practitioner. As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.
