Course Overview

This qualification is part of a programme of courses designed to enable you to develop your knowledge and skills and to work towards progressing to university once you have successfully passed the Level 3 Access course. It will give you a good grounding in academic studies and is designed to run over two days per week, usually from 9.30am – 3.00pm.

The course is divided into three key areas. The Access Level 1 course is designed to assist you with the development of Pre-GCSE maths and English skills. The IT units are designed to develop the skills necessary for successful study both on this Level 1 and the Level 2 Access courses and beyond. The Employability and Career Development unit is designed to encourage you to identify important factors in making career decisions and to enable you to engage effectively in the workplace.

Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.

There may be opportunities for adult students to study English and maths as part of your programme, and the level and type of qualification will be selected to suit individual need.

Please note advance applications for September 2016 for this course have now closed. However, you can still come in to apply and enrol during our open enrolment period between Tuesday 30 August and Friday 9 September. .
