2. Course description Accounting is a crucial part of developing and managing a successful business, and so much more than just adding up numbers. If you want to find out why Warren Buffet, one of the world's richest men, places so much importance on accounting at the beginning of any business valuation, then this is the A-Level course for you. You'll begin with a focus on the key aspects of accounting principles and accounts preparation, to help you understand exactly how this subject impacts upon the success of a business. You'll learn why accountants are so highly valued, and begin exploring the tools of the trade, including ledgers, subsidiary books, income statements and balance sheets. Throughout AS and A-Level, you'll be developing your financial literacy and critical thinking skills, so you can interpret and analyse the financial strengths, weaknesses and performance of a business effectively. You'll work to accountancy standards and learn about all different sources of finance, ensuring you have the skills to help businesses of all shapes and sizes achieve their aims and objectives.
