Good sound is crucial for successful filmmaking. This practical course will introduce you to the basics of sound design, recording and editing using the software Adobe Audition. We'll explore sound editing conventions and build up your confidence in using Adobe Audition to create impressive soundtracks. You'll learn to plan and organise your workflow, transcode material and create Audition projects, and explore a whole range of audio editing techniques, from sound effects to noise removal.

About this course

- understand the relationship between the sound editing and video workflow
- organise and transcode audio and video material for use in Adobe Audition
- understand some audio recording techniques and sound editing conventions
- create an Audition project and a multitrack session for audio editing
- use a range of editing tools in Audition
- move audio from Premiere Pro and other software to Audition
- use a range of sound effects in Audition
- remove noise from audio clips and manipulate audio in Audition
- export, back up and archive projects.

The latest professional equipment and software are available for your use throughout the course. It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC-formatted hard drives can be read by Apple Mac computers, but not written to). CDs/DVDs are available.

You will be taught through workshops, short lectures, practical exercises, tutorials and handouts. Throughout the course you will be encouraged to practise the techniques you are learning at home between classes. Please note we will be working on Apple Mac computers.
