Course programme

The Advanced Apprenticeship in Surveying is for those who are seeking to start a career as a surveyor in the construction, property sales and property management industries. At the start of the Apprenticeship, or on completion, advanced apprentices can apply for Associate RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) membership. The Apprenticeship includes core units relating to; managing self and relationships and service standards within a surveying environment; managing own work within a surveying environment and actions to reduce risks to health and safety within a surveying environment. In addition, a range of specialist unit options are available to select from in relation to the following aspects of surveying: maintenance management; quantity surveying; general practice surveying; building surveying; valuation. You will achieve a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Surveying, Property and Maintenance and a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. Unless exempt on entry, you will also achieve Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications in English and maths.You will learn through a combination of on- and off-the-job training. You will attend college on a day release basis during term time and spend the rest of your time earning and learning in the workplace. You will be assessed on a continuous basis through a combination of knowledge and practical assessment activities, including assessment of activities in the workplace. The Apprenticeship has a minimum duration of 24 months unless you are aged 19 or older and have undertaken relevant prior learning. Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by an Apprenticeship Achievement Officer.
