The Advanced Diploma in Environmental and Land-based Studies will give you first-hand experience of the opportunities, occupations and career paths offered by this sector. The Diploma has been
developed to give you a broad understanding of the current needs of
the sector†s diverse businesses.

The topics you will study include:
· Productive and working
environments
· Plants and animals
· Developing the sustainable
environment.

You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications
alongside your main course. These will include Functional Skills
qualifications in Mathematics, English and ICT at Level 3 and will also
include additional specialist learning modules that are relevant to the
subject area you are studying. It is possible to take additional GCSEs
within this course. The Advanced Diploma will give the opportunity to undertake at least 10 days†work experience, an excellent opportunity to explore the workplace.

How will I be assessed?
This course is assessed on a continuous basis through a combination of practical work, written coursework and two or three exams.

Progression
On successful completion you may have the opportunity to progress to a wide range of equine degree courses. This could include the Foundation Degree in Animal or Horse Management, Environmental Health or a choice of a wide range of Foundation Degrees offered at Weston College which are run in partnership with a number of universities. Achieving this course will give you
the equivalent of 3.5 A Levels and provide entry to degree level
courses.
