Course programme

The Advice and Guidance NVQ is a nationally recognised and flexible qualification based on industry standards and aimed at those who regularly provide advice across all occupations and sectors of employment.

The programme is available at 3 levels and is designed to develop and enhance those practical skills needed to complement work already carried out, improving the quality of support provided within your organisation. The programme will ultimately offer learners a progression route into other areas such as community development work, health and social care and youth work.

Day to day work tasks will provide opportunities for recognition for those candidates demonstrating their ability to reach the standards required in their chosen area and level. Examples include creating an environment to allow clients to express their needs, confidentiality limits and assurance, barriers to communication and identification of situations that require immediate action

Assessment Process

Each unit is assessed through the observation and questioning of normal activities within the workplace and the development of a portfolio within which learners collect electronic, paper and witness statement evidence that they have covered the skills/knowledge required for the unit. Learners are also required to create reflective accounts of their work for inclusion in the portfolio and apply knowledge and understanding of their work practices to the principles contained within each unit.

Length of Programme

We support learners and set standards to enable participants to achieve targets and personal goals at an agreed pace. All learners are supported by a dedicated uke learning assessor who provides advice, guidance and support in the workplace throughout the duration of the programme.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for the NVQ although this programme is most suited to those who are working at the level already required by Level 3. Participants should have related work experience and a background which will enable them to benefit from the programme. A good standard in English and excellent communication skills are necessary and the uke learning assessor must also be confident that the learner is able to generate the evidence necessary to achieve the qualification.
