Automatic External Defibrillator
AED Training Over 150,000 people die from cardiac arrests in the UK each year. The majority might be saved if their heart could be defibrillated (shocked back into rhythm) within five minutes. An Automated External Defibrillator - with a trained operator - at the site of a sudden cardiac arrest can improve the chance of survival from 5% to 80. (A recent AED training scheme introduced to the staff at Gatwick airport has seen the survival rates of cardiac arrest victims increase from about 3% to 44%). Defibrillation therefore, is considered the most definitive treatment for casualties suffering from a cardiac arrest - in fact, for the pulseless adult casualty, chances of a sudden cardiac arrest patient surviving without an early electrical counter-shock are less than 1%.
With the advent of AED's (Automated External Defibrillators), this lifesaving technology can be placed in the hands of corporate and industrial responders.
Medrock Training can provide on site AED training using the defibrillator of your choice. At the end of the course, successful students will be competent in:

  • Basic life support (CPR - adults and paediatric)
  • Regulations
  • First aid priorities
  • Managing an incident
  • Using the Automated External Defibrillator
  • Resuscitation
  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty
  • Treatment of a heart attack
