About this Course

The Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design is a two year course designed to build on your knowledge and skills in art and design and introduce you to the extensive range of creative disciplines available to you.



The first year will provide an opportunity to experiment with all the disciplines and learn new skills that will inform your independent practice. The second year will encourage you to specialise in a particular discipline. You will leave the course with the confidence, skills and independent approach required to work within the creative industries.

Course programme

What will I study?
  • Explore a wide range of disciplines within art and design including fine art, graphic design/illustration, fashion and textiles, photography and 3D design
  • Explore the principles of design and fundamental theories to help you contextualise your work
  • Explore the skills required to specialise in a particular area of art and design practice
  • Receive support with your UCAS application including portfolio-building sessions, interview preparation, personal statement writing and a visit to the Art and Design UCAS Fair
  • Take part in educational visits including a second year residential to a major European city and galleries throughout the UK

  • What can I progress to?
    Following this qualification you could enter into employment or choose to study a Higher Education course including the HND in Art and Design, BA (Hons) in Fashion, BA (Hons) in Media, Moving Image and Photography or the Foundation Degree in Graphic Design.

    What are the entry requirements?
  • Four GCSEs at grade C or above including English and either art, CDT, textiles or graphics
  • Or a vocational qualification such as BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Merit grade or above
