Course programme

About this Course
This is an intensive one year foundation programme, which provides you with a valuable introduction to a wide range of creative disciplines, allowing you to experiment before specialising in your chosen area. By choosing this qualification you will perfect your skills and build a portfolio of artwork to support your application to a degree level qualification.

This course is lively and stimulating with a series of studio projects, lectures, talks from industry professionals and gallery visits. All of which encourage creative production and self-reliant learning.

What will I study?
  • The course is in three stages: exploratory, pathway and confirmatory
  • Stage one allows students to explore the main areas of art and design including fine art, graphic design/illustration, fashion and textiles, photography and 3D design
  • Stage two builds on the skills and understanding of the first stage, allowing students to develop advanced skills within their selected specialist area
  • Stage three becomes more independent and moves up to Level 4, as students plan and implement their own major project in preparation for study at degree level
  • Study units include: researching; recording and responding; media experimentation; information and interpretation; personal experimental studies; extended media development; preparation and progression; and a final major project
